  • We Have 2 Nightstands! And a dresser!

It’s a monumental day folks! This post is officially the last post of our bedroom, you can say I’ve certainly stretched this room out to the max. Truth is, I should have finished these photos immediately after receiving the dresser and nightstands, but the holidays happened and you all know how difficult it is to do anything during the holidays. The nightstand and dresser were part of The One Room Challenge I did this past fall, but due to shipping delays, these pieces of furniture didn’t make it in time for the reveal. But now they get their own dedicated post and I’m pretty pleased with how this space finally turned out.

I hacked a framed piece of art from Target (this one!)  and placed an African mat inside the frame, and while it looks decent and photographs well, I wouldn’t recommend doing the hack. I broke the first frame and barely got the second frame to hold together. Ultimately I need to find something of better scale above the dresser or just send this mat to get framed professionally.

I definitely like the maturity and contrast of the Four Hands Suki dresser from Hayneedle, over the stand-in white mid-century dresser we borrowed from Mara’s room for the ORC reveal. Also, I’ve been seeing versions of the Article Forma chair popping up all over the place so clearly it’s a crowd favorite. It’s so comfortable and roomy, perfect for scrolling my Instagram feed while nature watching in our backyard. Speaking of, I should do that more often :P

We were also finally able to install the matte black Emtek Helios lever door handles on all the interior doors in our entire house. Our doors are original to the home, and the original holes drilled for door knobs were ~1/8″ in diameter too small, so we had to hire someone with specific tools to make the holes slightly larger in order to install the levers. It’s little setbacks like these that prevent what seems to be an easy task, switching out door handles, into a month long endeavor. I’ll be honest though, the wait was worth it. There’s nothing more luxurious than well crafted door handles! Emtek wins, hands down.

The other very exciting addition to the room, and the one my husband is most thankful for, is our second Lexington Curtain Call nightstand from The Mine. I don’t have a lens that captures the full room very well, so you’ll have to use a bit of imagination, but two of these gorgeous nightstands are so much better than one! I love the size, it’s substantial and provides a lot of storage, and great scale for the room. I love the open shelf to display pretty books or journals or novels we’re reading.

Now that I’ve posted about my bedroom to death, it’s time to work on the rest of our home! I’ve been slowly working on both of my kids rooms, and getting back to my roots with a couple DIYs that I’m excited about. My husband and I are also budgeting out all the work needed in the rest of our home, which has been difficult to prioritize because one thing leads to another and if we do this we might as well do that, etc etc. I’m also working on a website refresh, and expanding the shop! Very exciting things happening behind the scenes even if there aren’t many blog posts to show for it. As always, thank you for following along!

      1. Hey marla! The dresser has held up fine. It looks great but I will say the drawers are very small and don’t open up all the way. The drawers are on glides, and it functions fine. I will say, I wouldn’t buy it again, but it does look nice.
