We used to have a casual friday series, not totally sure why it derailed, but I’m excited to bring it back but with a fresh twist! I honestly love these types of posts across all my favorite blogs, especially when they’re a little more personal.
Now that our fireplace & built-ins are completed, we’re finally highlighting our living room for the first time ever! Our buffalo check chairs have become quite the conversation piece. Everyone wants to know where we found our buffalo check fabric. It’s by P Kaufmann, it’s the perfect weight and the check size is perfect. Also, the price is exceptional for the quality.
I never think to make slow cooker meals, but with two kids in the house now, quick meal prep is all I can mange. I tried these slow cooker chicken carnitas last week (and once this week!) and basically got crowned the best cook ever. Try this recipe, you won’t regret it!
We’re headed to Palm Springs in a week or so for a mini family vaca which has me glancing over at my sad swim suit situation. I’m loving either this high-waisted suit or this long sleeved one piece for this post baby bod.
I have notoriously dry lips, no matter how hydrated I am, and it usually prevents me from wearing any sort of lipstick which bums me out. I’m trying out Burts Bees tinted lip balm for both lip repair and color for the first time, so far I like Pink Blossom and Rose for enhancing the more natural pinks in the lips. Any suggestions on other products I should try??
Miss Mara is 2 months old as of yesterday (!!!) which kind of blows my mind. Seriously, there’s nothing like being a mom to be tortured with the passing of time. This little girl is such a sweetheart, and finally those smiles are becoming more and more frequent.
Have a great weekend everyone!
mara is SOOOOO stinking cute!!!!!!! oh my gosh!
aww thanks! hard not to eat chose cheeks!
YAY! Loving the casual Friday concept! Thanks for recipe link – looks perfect for Super Bowl Sunday!
you’ve gotta try the sweet glam lip tints. super soft and moisturizing and if I use it in the afternoon I always wake up the next day with color still on my lips. That’s serious relaxed staying power. also they come in a set of four colors on amazon for 19$. super super super
SWEET! exactly what I need!
I’m new to the blog, but I’m pretty much in love with it all. Can you share any details on the rug in the living room in front of that lovely fireplace? I have been looking for something just like it. Thanks!
Thanks Marcey! I actually source and sell vintage rugs, this happened to be one of those I found that I just had to keep myself! We list new batches of rugs about once every 2-3 weeks, and I’m always on the hunt for large guys like this one!
New to your site and LOVING those cheeks…so kissable! Also loving your fireplace makeover. We built a home and have yet to touch the fireplace wall, but I plan on using Ikea cabinets and building out the fireplace as you did. (We will have a stove insert.) I have only dreamed of getting my shelves to look like yours…so intrigued and hoping you will post the details. I think I see glue between what appears to be two MDF ‘layers’ which forms each shelf and gives the floating/built-in look. Dying to know how that top or first shelf was attached and if the glue is all you used to secure the two together??? Thank you for your time and sharing your work. So inspiring!
oh my gosh, you’re so sweet! And yes, you are correct! I’ll post in further detail, but basically two 3/4″ MDF sheets glued together (since I wanted 1.5″ shelves haha). Next post is all about those shelves!
Rodan and Fields Lip Serum is ah-mazing!! Will cure those chapped lips in just a day or two. I use it every night before bed. Ps. Love your blog and Instagram feed
Thank you!! I’m off to check this one out!
Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm (in the pot, not the stick) is the greatest lip balm of all time. I put it on every night before bed and I wake up with it still on my lips. I also like the Caudalie stick lip balm for daily use. I will layer lipstick over either of those.
I’m taking notes, hard. Thank you for these suggestions!
Thanks for that recipe! It looks really great and I’m going to give it a try next weekend.
all looks great-jumping in very late to say all you need is Aquaphor Healing ointment–in the tubes or the big ol tub! It’s absolutely the best, it is recommended for people on Accutane, the acne drug that is a last resort miracle worker, but wreaks havoc on lips, dry cracked painful. At your local CVS or Walgreens!
Thank you!!!
I absolutely love your buffalo check chairs!
I ordered a swatch of the same fabric and the checks are huge! (4.5″ x 4.5″) Your checks seem a lot smaller. Do you happen to know the dimensions of your checks? I can’t seem to find the smaller check fabric on the website and I would love to get a chair re-upholstered.
Thanks for your help!! :)
