It’s done! I filled my West Elm planter over the holiday, woot! Recall my planter dilemma? I’ve had this planter since the beginning of summer, just sitting empty in my house. I loved reading everyone’s votes on what to plant, and I’m happy to report the majority of folks voted for the same thing I wanted (yay!), two tall euphorbia ghost cacti similar to Amber’s. Now, my cacti aren’t nearly has tall as hers, but they will grow! I found these two in Berkeley, at the coolest dry nursery. I’m hoping that little arm (on the left cactus) will sprout come next summer.
I couldn’t decide on what rug to put in this space, as you can see I tested out two very different rugs. I’m loving the kilim!
Which one is your fave?
Sources: Rugs, planter, console table, acacia bowl (similar), chandelier, roman shades, framed art, brass footed bowl (from the flea), African mask (also from the flea)
Looks great! And yes to the kilim too…it’s strong but doesn’t overpower the other things. Do you know what you’re supposed to do with those arms? I have a very small cactus that has grown an arm that is now bigger than the cactus itself and I have no idea what to do with it!
Thanks Gwen! And not sure to be honest, I actually dig them, think they add a bit of flare, or natural imbalance that I think you just gotta give into
I’m literally drooling over this planter. It looks so so good in your home with the cactus
Thanks Julia!
Love! Still need a cactus for mine. The rugs are hard because they both look beautifully styled, but the first one won me over!
Thanks Krystle! I completely agree!
Ooo love the looks of the cactus! And that first rug is my vote!
looks great!! i really love the credenza too. Where did you get it?
It’s an Ikea Besta cabinet hack, the link to the tutorial is in the post!
I made the credenza following your instructions and I love it!!! So much cheaper than a new one. I also, did give you the credit instead of saying I made up the DIY :) Now I want that planter … lol!!
You’re the best!!! And it is super easy, right?
I love the planter! I’ve been thinking about buying it forever and this just pushed me to do it. Is this the medium or large size? Also, great choice with the cactus.
Yeah! do it! It’s the large one :)
Great idea, thanks for sharing it with us! And the second rug really caught our eyes. Rugs for us means color and happiness. Sukhi in Nepali means happiness and this is what we are trying to offer when creating our unique rugs. They are all created by lady artisans in Nepal, India or Morocco. Let us know what you think about our work!

Love it! Question: I bought the same planter, but wondering how you handled the hole in the bottom?
Thanks! I placed a piece of fabric at the bottom, i think a piece of something thick like canvas. That way if water did need to drain, it would, but the dirt wouldn’t!
