You know what’s amazing? YOU. YOU are ALL amazing! What a fun day yesterday, first sharing some big news, then reading all your positive and encouraging comments. I’m so elated and humbled. Thank you, seriously, for being the best readers around :)
It should start to make some sense now why we moved out of our loft. We moved to save money, to put ourselves in the best financial position before bringing a baby into the world. Right now we’re temporarily living at our old house, then we plan to move into our own place right when I’m about to pop! It’s going to be a fun challenge, and time is going to fly by so I’ve decided to embrace the spaces we have for the time being and put my personal touch on them. It will help me enjoy living in the moment rather than impatiently waiting until we move out.
I started working on the spare bedroom, which I get to use as a workspace (woot!).
Lots of gold, as to be expected :P I’m still loving the black, white, gold and navy blue palette, so I hung some navy blue velvet curtains. This marks another remarkable thing about this blog – one sweet reader sent these curtains to me after I mentioned my longing for the navy blue Sanela Ikea curtain, (which are sadly no longer available). She had never used them, so we struck a deal and now they’re happily hanging in my workroom!
Did I ever tell you the story about my mirrored Parson’s desk? One of my close girlfriends found it on Craigslist for me (awesome friend right?!). I guess one of the managers at West Elm was selling her hoarded collection of pieces that pretty much never been used. My girlfriend negotiated the desk down to $120. $120!!! This desk is no longer available, (you can buy the console here) but the desk used to sell for over $700. NUTS!
Corner by corner, our space is slowly coming together. Knowing me I’ll probably shift things around a bit until I’m happy. I plan to paint that campaign cabinet soon. Those poor oxidized pulls and brackets need new life!
those are the ones i wanted for my guest room and tey no longer had black or navy so i got the chocolate brown… i hadn’t thought of brown until it was what they had and i love them! happy accident! i am really pleased with the quality, too!
Gorgeous! What an exciting time for you!
What an inviting little corner! And yes, those panels are so good. What a shame that they were discontinued!
What a deal on the desk and I so wish that they would still sell the navy blue Sanela curtains! What an awesome reader to send you those curtains.
Happy Thanksgiving!
This space already looks great! Love the mix of colors and finishes.
absolutely gorgeous! And what a good friend
congratulations! and the space looks great. good score on the curtains and table!
navy, white and gold are the best colors ever. throw in velvet and it’s even better. this room makes me very happy!
I love a good Craigslist story- it motivates me to keep on digging, even when I can’t find anything! :)
ugh! I just love that little nook! I want to live there. its so glam & gold. just love it
Hi! Where did you get your curtain rod?
Oh my goodness, I’ve been scouring the internet the last couple of hours for these curtains, why oh why IKEA? Bring them back!
Hi, I came across this post because I’m looking for those sanela navy blue curtains. So, are the “dark blue” options on IKEA’s website now not the same as the navy blue??
