TGIF friends! I’m so happy to be included in this fall home series with all these amazing bloggers! What’s so fun about this series is that we’re no longer focusing on fall decor made of burlap and faux berries on a stem from Michael’s, instead we’re blogging about the modern fall, the fun fall, the real fall that makes up our homes between now and when we bust out those advent calendars.
We’ve seen four fall homes so far, Lindsay’s warm and rustic Navajo styled home, Kristen’s crazy cute house full of charm, Sarah sharing her killer crafting skills (and our love for gold!), and Gabbi’s colorful fall abode. There are some pretty amazing ladies on the docket this month, stick around and get inspired!
For me, fall is about layers, and I don’t entirely mean scarves and riding boots. I’m referring to the layers we add when the crisp fall air rolls in, the blankets we add to our beds, the pillows we add to our sofas. I love letting these layers pile up, it creates a cozy and comforting place we can call home.
Truthfully, I only have a like two fall decor tricks up my sleeve: fluffy pillows and lots of blankets. I don’t think you have to change much to add a touch of fall to your home. My blue walls, for example, are not very “autumn palette”, they’re more “cool, mod & breezy”, but using what you have is exactly how we modernize this season.
Another trick I have up my sleeve is simply switching up a few accessories. Replace that alarm clock with a tasty birch wrapped candle. Keep it fresh with greenery and mirrored balls. All it takes is a few switch-a-roos. Just have fun with fall this year!
Now, back to those scarves and boots. My final fall decor trick is layering a room with wardrobe staples. Hang your pea coats in your entry. Display your riding boots by your bed or at the door. It’s the collective of these small details that create the most warm and cozy home.
Stay tuned the rest of this month! Check in tomorrow on the fabulous Scout & Nimble blog. Trust me, you’re gonna want to see Jesse’s fall home tour. Have a great weekend!

Love the color combo and the texture you added with your bedroom pillows. I swear I love this space more every time I look at it and you are so right about the boots and coats! Normally, when I’m snapping photos I try to throw all the clutter at least out of the frame, but not anymore. I have pinned so many photos where there are just a pair of boots or scarf in the pic. Great idea!
Love those cozy pillows…make me wanna snuggle up in that amazing bedroom of yours! Your style is killer!
I just love your bedroom so much Brittany. Those were some great tips and a I couldn’t agree more. Killer riding boots ;) you got there!
