Happy Monday! I hope the weekend treated everyone well.  We are on our way home today (noooooo!!!!!), I bet you thought it would never end, right? Although the depression has set in that our crazy honeymoon is ending (not to mention the bummer of going back to work, boo!), I have to admit I am looking forward to getting back to a normal routine.

On a happier note, I’m really excited to share today’s guest blogger, mainly because she’s one of the happiest most genuine blogger I’ve met.  Please meet Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home!

    Jenn-intro TELL-US

Hi, brittanyMakes readers!  I’m Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home and I’m so happy to be here today while the fabulous Brittany is enjoying her honeymoon.  I live near Boston, MA with my husband and two young daughters and blog about home and food, with a focus on DIY projects and natural eating.  I love (love) making furniture, doing upholstery projects, and decorating.  I detest anything artificial or chemical in my food.  Pretty much everything on my blog falls under those two umbrellas :)

Favorite-Summer-TraditionMy favorite summer tradition is taking my daughters to Bethany Beach, DE for a week.  It’s this adorably quaint beach town with flowers at every turn, surf shops, ice cream parlors, a little boardwalk, and live music every weekend.  The beaches have the softest sand and my girls could sit and play all day.  Our trip this summer is coming up soon and I can’t wait!

    Color-Crush
My summer color crush wasn’t obvious to me right away…until I looked around and realized without a doubt it’s blue!  I’ve been wearing this maxi dress a ton and have had my eye on the navy and aqua necklace.  I just finished turning an old TV stand into the blue bar cart with gold dipped legs and made the navy and white pillows for our screened porch sofa this summer.  So apparently, I am feeling the blue this summer!

    Show-the-world

One project I wish the whole world could see is my children’s upholstered chair.  I’ve made three so far: one for each of my nieces and one for an auction at my daughter’s preschool.  I have the design finalized and am narrowing down stock fabric options (plus it will be available totally custom in customer’s own material).  I’ve been talking to local shop owners about carrying it plus I’ll be offering it online.  This whole building a business thing is not for the faint-hearted, I’ll tell you that!

So…probably obviously, I would like the world to see my chair so they will sell like hotcakes and I can provide the children of the world with stylish seating :)

My gosh, this is a harder question than I expected!  Practically speaking, I would not want to live without my washing machine, vacuum cleaner, or food processor.  But those are so boring, aren’t they?!  How about the most sentimentally valuable thing?  Can I go with that?  If my house were on fire I would run for my girls first, then try to grab my camera and/or computer to save photos of my girls as babies.  And then I would want to grab the little chair pictured below, which is a replica of one my great-grandfather made for my mom for her first birthday and my parents had made for my oldest daughter for her first birthday.  I think I overthought this question a little bit…
p.s. I also made the X base console table here...but I wouldn’t run for it in a house fire!
    BLOGGER
I would love to meet Ana White!  I adore her and think she is lovely, down-to-earth, and talented.  I love that she’s demystified furniture making for so many people.  Plus I’ve seen pictures of her wielding power tools while wearing heels.  My kind of girl…
Pet-PeeveMy biggest home decor pet peeve has become curtains hung too low.  I realized what a difference hanging curtains high and wide made a few years ago and went through my entire house and raised and/or widened all of my window treatments.  It lets so much more light come in and does wonders for making ceilings look higher and windows bigger.  I totally notice it in other people’s houses now.  But would never call anyone out on it either…I’m not a mean girl :)Brittany, thanks again for having me here today!  I had so much fun answering your questions.  Hope you’re soaking up lots of blissful newlywed time on your honeymoon!

    *****************************************

Isn’t Jennifer amazing and fun? I’m so impressed with her woodworking skills, I’ve even followed her x-bench tutorial (although I haven’t finished it yet LOL).  I was drooling over her recipes, especially her desserts page, which is full of mouthwatering sweets!

Check back in tomorrow for our last installment of this guest blogger series.
