  • project goals for 2013

I made a project list for the new year… horray!  It’s beefy.  And ambitious.  I’ll have to give myself constant reminders that I have a wedding in 7 months, and to prioritize accordingly, although knowing me I won’t be able to control my project ADD.  Below are my thoughts and plans for household projects I have in mind for 2013.

    Furniture makeovers in the queue:

I have many items around my house that are in the queue for a make-over.  The first is our TV stand which is a massive dresser that my fiancee hates (a woman’s gotta hide those video games somehow!).  Our kitchen island, which is the Norden occasional table from Ikea.  Our 2 French bergere chairs (a Craigslist find), which photograph surprisingly well but are beyond filthy in real life.  My French Provencial sofa, which is still in storage (sorry Gram!), and my armoire.  These are just a few of the major pieces of furniture that need a full blown make-over.

    Entryway makeover:

Behold, our entryway… a very confused and embarrassing space in our house.  I usually use this space as my workshop.  Guests usually have to step over scraps of wood, my tools or miter saw, paint brushes… I’d like to tell you I clean up after myself 100% of the time… but as you can see there are still remnants of Halloween and Christmas in our entry, and we still might have our Christmas tree up in our living room (what? it’s still luscious and alive!).  This space needs help, and it’s on top of the list.

    Build & Upholster a Headboard

Deja vu, right? I’m carrying some of my 2012 project goals that I couldn’t get to last year, into the new year.  I want a headboard for our bed. Without a headboard our bedroom is sad and incomplete.  Our bed (when made) still looks something like this:

It’s a headboard crisis, I’m telling you! Oh, and that shade-less lamp.  Look away.

    Finish 2012 projects

Well, there’s more to do of course, like finish some of my 2012 projects! My I have 2 dining chairs left, a second row of open shelving in my kitchen, and the last window in my bedroom needs a poor drape.  The list is infinite it seems, but that’s what keeps this blog moving!

    Wish me luck!

    1. Pumpkins?? You crack me up. In true Allison fashion, my tree was down Christmas night. Excited for your projects, and I’ll take your berge chairs if you don’t want them anymore.
