Hello hello! I hope everyone has had a great week so far, and that you all have exciting plans for the weekend. The only thing I have planned is a 10-mile run. Gross, I know, but I have a race in less than 3 weeks and I plan to kick some boo-tay this year. Ha! We’ll see!
It’s no surprise, now that I’m getting married (OMG IN LESS THAN 8 MONTHS!) my DIY brain is triggered to all things wedding. I’ve been building our wedding website (it’s a blog too!), making plans for engagement party decor, and the most recent being the gifts we gave each of our bridesmaids and groomsmen when we asked them to be in our lineup.
Today I’m going to share with you the gift I made for my bridesmaids: initial charm necklaces!
It’s jewelry. Are you surprised?
First, I made a custom order for 9 charms with the first initial engraved for each of my bridesmaids. And one for myself :)
I have 8 bridesmaids. Is that too many?
Then, I went to my local gem shop and bought 14 feet of delicate gold cable chain. The standard length of a necklace is 16″, did you know that?
I handmade the clasps for each necklace, It’s more economical and adds a personal touch to a necklace where most of the skill is just assembling the pieces. After I made clasps, I formed an assembly line by grouping all the pieces needed in a pile, one next to the other, for easy assembly. It took me probably 15 minutes to assemble all 9 necklaces.
I tucked each necklace in a brown Kraft paper box, tied them with a satin black ribbon, and presented them to each bridesmaid with a letterpress card with a message asking “will you be my bridesmaid?”
These necklaces are so easy to make. I bought the engraved charms off Etsy from MiNiBelle, a very talented designer!
Have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe and dry out there!
I haven’t taken it off since you gave it to me!
This is an awesome idea! Would you mind sharing with me where you ordered the charms from? Thanks!
