Why, hello! Happy Monday!
Let me begin by admitting one thing – I have a *small* fascination with chairs. I’ve been asked more times than I can count, “why do you have so many chairs?” It’s true, I have a lot of chairs, and much to my fiance’s chagrin – they each serve a purpose! Every chair I own has been sat in at least once since we moved. This, I must say, is a success. Otherwise I fear I’d have to get rid of some. Eek!
It hit me yesterday that I haven’t yet shared with you all the many chairs that make up Brittany, or brittanyMakes, that is.
It’s a tie as to which chair is my all time favorite – my gold leaf chair or the mister below, my King Louis. My gold leaf chair is very valuable to me. It represents my impeccable patience in applying gold leaf! 1,000 bonus points if you remember how much I paid for this chair.
This next chair was an accidental find. I wasn’t looking for a chair when I stumbled on this guy, but it was love at first site the minute I saw him… and now, he’s a brittanyMakes icon!
I found these stools at my local Crate & Barrel outlet. I bought them knowing i’d have a use for them, now they live in my man’s “Tron room” (aka, our spare bedroom turned bat cave) which we pull out for use on weekday nights for quick dinners at our kitchen island.
I bought these metal bistro chairs with a killer discount at Pottery Barn, for the dining table in my very first apartment when I lived in San Diego. That was over 4 years ago! What’s funny is, my tastes have evolved since then but I would re-purchase these chairs any ol’ day. They have a classic cafe elegance that fits in with any style, really.
Here is the first peek at my dining set, which I’ve yet to reveal. I scored a dining table and 6 matching chairs off Craigslist for a total of $50. $50! That’s basically free. I painted the chairs, stained the table, and gave the cushions a make-over with clean vintage grain sacks – an ode to my love of Frenchy things.
Here lies a project in the works. 2 beautiful teal bergere chairs, awaiting new upholstery! I need to get to these two asap, the fabric is pretty filthy from the previous owners. Craigslist find? Yessiree.
And last but not least, lies my first upholstery make-over project! She is currently being used as a game chair in my man’s Tron room. Apparently boys find her as comfortable as I do!
I haven’t been able to go hunting for a new chair for quite some time, you know, since I have so many and all. BUT!!! I just bought myself a new laptop desk, and now I need a desk chair to go with it! Let the hunt begin!
pin the whole set!
Love EVERY one of them. They are all so unique!
Tami
I was looking for some information about recovering chairs. I have some that need to have wood cut for the seat and a seat stuffed and covered.
Can you share where you got all the information you used to do your chair projects?
Thanks
Deb
Deb, Hi! Sorry for taking a few days to reply. I actually have a post that shows you what to do with wood and batting and foam, although because of my site upgrade the pics are missing. Instead, let me share with you Centsational Girl’s post, which I found to be very helpful! Check hers out here: http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2009/04/my-fair-ladies/
I’m inspired!! These are beautiful. I too have the same chair obsession as you… I drag them home from flea markets and find them on the side of the road. I think you can never have too many chairs (although my fiance disagrees)
