I have a new toy in my camera bag, it's a 50mm lens! He looks exactly like this:

I spent some time with my new lens this weekend, taking a ton of photos, and of course many of them were out of focus, but I did catch some perfect ones!

My favorite qualities about this lens is since it has such a high aperture, the out of focus areas just fall away, creating the most beautiful blur, or bokeh.  I'm still learning how to match the exact focal point, since you have to focus this lens manually.

These last few are my favorites.  One of my oldest friends from high school got married over the weekend and I was able to take a few photos of her while she got ready before the ceremony.  OH, and I was lucky enough to do her hair for the big day! 

 

I'm thrilled to add a new lens to my camera bag, even if it's just a wee 50mm.  Next, I'm saving up for that wide angle!
