New Rug Arrivals are in. Check out what's new!
  • I had to do it

We love our loft.  It has so much "character", as we like to say, and so much "potential", as our family likes to say.  There are many quirky things about our loft that we've learned to embrace – one door has trim while the other does not, there are no base boards which make the walls appear unfinished, there is only one outlet in our 600 sqft master bedroom (and it's on the wrong side of the room), and many other quarks which I'll share in due time.

For the last week or so, I've been mulling over the idea of painting the bedroom doors.  And last night, I made the executive decision and went for it.  Here's a peak of our new door:

I gave our spare bedroom door a makeover in two-toned Louis Blue chalk paint!  Check it, the door was so ugly before:

The door was this kinda brown-white color, completely filthy, don't you agree?  The doorknob isn't anything special, but who's in a hurry to replace doorknobs? Not I.

And for those of you who are highly acute to detail, I actually painted both sides of the door, but only one side gets true natural light.  These glamour shots were taken of the right side :)

Louis Blue is my man! Annie Sloan does it right, that's for sure.  Here's what I did – I literally took a paint brush, dipped it in the Louis Blue chalk paint can, and went to town.  I painted straight Louis Blue on the outer frame, then mixed 1:1.5 Old white:Louis Blue.  I wanted a subtle change in color.  I think the two-toned paint job adds personality and complexity to the door, no?

Here's one more look, because this door deserves some attention…
