What's the first thing you unpack when you move to a new place? Is it your TV, your dishes or flatware, or perhaps your closet? I know for my BF the first thing he unpacked was his Playstation. Second, the controllers.
The first thing I must unpack and put together is our bed. Our soft, fluffy, firm, tall, oh so inviting bed.
I love a messy-made bed. Erin of House of Earnest asked a question last week about bed making habits, and I've thought about it ever since. I would say we're cheaters. We sleep without a flag sheet, so bed making only requires repositioning the pillows and haphazardly throwing the duvet on the bed. A friend of ours was over yesterday visiting and checking out our new place. She asked us, 'you actually make your bed?' Ha! Deception win.
Our room is far from finished, as you can see from the shadeless lamp and the picture-less frame. But a ready made bed gives me a sense of peace. A made bed makes me feel organized and accomplished, and I'm more likely to clean the rest of the room.
I'm using my favorite chair find ever as an act-in night stand. I love this chair so much I need it by my side when I sleep! True story.

Your bed does look inviting! Which is kind of a creepy comment, I realize… When unpacking I always put my bookshelves back together first. It really cuts down on the boxes lying around!

SO true! we actually need to get bookshelves… We’d cut down probably half of our boxes. OK, you just motivated me, I’m going out to get some shelves asap!
