It's no secret that I've got a thing for gold. Like, I'm crushing hard, and not for just anything gold, I'm infatuated with gold as a texture or added flair in decorating. I love it! And I just can't get enough. My boyfriend? not so much. Although, he did complement my gilded chair by saying it looked "expensive". I guess that means we can keep it :) Yay!
I've come to find there is a very, very fine line between a classy, sophisticated, or funky gold, and that trashy brassy gold that looks cheap and tarnished. Seriously, it's a very fine line, I'm sure you've seen some fails (yikes!)… so beware when decorating with gold. Rule of thumb – use it as an accent color, or a single bold statement piece – something you can change out or move around if your mood sways to another hue.
I've got to stop chatting! Let me just show you why it is that gold catches my fancy…
oh my, all these gold chairs, *pitter patter* goes my heart
The image above is a perfect example of using gold as an accent color. This side table adds texture and contrast, a perfect complement to this bold navy and white striped sofa.
Wow. Everything about this, the olive couch with gold trim, the sea foam green walls, and the gold framed botanical prints. This is one of my favorite palettes.
The rosy gold entry above is subtle, warm and full of texture. The rustic hardwood, the gilded legs on the cream sofa, the staircase runner, and the gorgeous chandelier, all of these pieces tie together so beautifully!
The room above is so funky cool, the zebra rug, the gilded settee, the black cylinder chandelier with a sneaky gold interior. My favorite part here is the mix of gold and black picture frames.
Oh, my, someone please paint this for me!
I found those gold globe vases from the Design Manafest blog. Naomi's apartment is pure eye candy, hats off to her because she knows how gold should be used. How fun are those alphabet blocks? That cake looks amazing, and I'm 100% convinced Urban Outfitters made that lamp just for me…
