New Rug Arrivals are in. Check out what's new!
  • goodbye january

When January came, everyone was excited and eager to make their resolutions for the year.  We all said goodbye to 2011, turned a new page, and wiped the slate clean.  How did you fare? Did you hit any obstacles? Did you give up? Or did you push past the road blocks and accomplish what you set out to achieve?

For my new friends and readers, take a second and read about my 2012 resolutions.  To recap, I split my resolutions into two sections – blog and personal.  My blog goals were centered around growth, organization, and mastering my camera.  My personal goals promised yoga & fitness, better mental health, and hard core financial planning.  OK, maybe not super hard core, but saving for our future as the key ingredient.

    How did I fare?

    1) I got a hair cut!

What? That wasn't on the list? Fine, fine – I'll get back on track…

    2) I finally opened my Etsy store!

Cheers to actually crossing something off the list, and in January no less! You can find the link to my store on the right side column of my blog, or just click the button above.  Find something you like but want it in a different color? I'm a jewelry designer, I can make virtually anything you want! Except for puka shells, I refuse to make anything containing puka shells…

    3) Growth!

Hello new readers! Welcome to my site.  I'm so happy to share my projects and some ramblings, like today's post… don't worry, I'll keep the randomness at a minimum. I like to sneak it in here and there, I find it helps us get to know each other – you get to learn what I love, like running and seeing pictures of my bulldogs.

Back to the growth piece – I've been featured recently! So much so that I started a features page. My amazing gilded chair project put me on the grid.  Hopefully this is just the beginning, because I see a lot of gilded furniture in my future!

    #4) Health & Fitness

Yoga has been a no-go so far this year.  I pinched a nerve in my center spine right before New Years, which resulted in no sleep for four days straight, 3 months of pre-paid chiropractic care, and 2 weeks off of running.  Sucky, sucky.  But, this week my doctor finally says I'm good to start running, and get back on track.

So far so good, no? I think I did well in January, so, bring it on February!  I mean, most of the obstacles I've encountered are on the personal side, but I won't let them bring me down! Other than that, I'm still figuring out the organization and scheduling of blog work, like when to post vs. when to DIY.  It's a juggling act, like most of you know…

What about you? How have you fared so far this year?  One month down, 11 to go!
