Lately my hands have been snug in mittens, pockets, and thumb sweaters to keep warm during this chilly winter. Now that Christmas is over, everyone's talking about Spring and wishing for sunshine. Personally I'd like to enjoy winter a little longer and continue to bundle up in my winter garb, scrape ice off my windshield in the morning, and snuggle under multiple blankets at night. I get a little sad when seasons pass by so quickly. Apart from my love of winter, I decided I'd entertain you sunshine seekers with a cute and simple tutorial on rings!
Let's give our little fingers something to look forward to besides warm mittens and hot air blowing from the car heater. Let your hands also pine for sunshine, a manicure, and some adorable accessories like these rings.
Here's the Step-by-Step:
Step 1, grab your tools: ring mandrel, 18 gauge & 24 gauge wire, wire cutters, round nosed and flat nosed pliers.
Step 2, wrap your 18g wire around the ring mandrel at the desired size (I made size 6 rings).
Step 3, using your round nosed pliers, make a centered loop at one end.
Step 4, using your wire cutters, clip the excess wire where it meets the loop you just made. Then, make a second loop.
Step 5, using your flat nosed pliers, bend the loops up 90 degrees from the ring base. Then, take your 24g wire and wrap around the base at the 90 degree angle.
Step 6, thread your bead through the 24g wire, then thread the wire through the opposite loop, and wrap around the angled base to secure the bead.
And voila!
Repeat steps 1-6 to make all sorts of rings out of your favorite stones, gems, and beads. I loooove those turquoise enamel beads. I have them in a variety of colors.
Here's the red rose in action…
It's simple, yet profound. This ring added the perfect pop of color to my black and grey outfit. It's so incredibly easy to add a little personality and pizazz with these rings, just like I did with this little red number.
Lovely!
Super cute! Where do you get those cute roses for the rings? Thanks!
Hi Katie! I picked up these roses at a local gem faire. Depending on where you live, there may be a faire in your area. Try Intergem http://www.intergem.net/.
These are lovely!
