Hello! Happy Saturday! Yes, It took me one week into 2012 to finally say good riddance to 2011, mainly due to work, but I'm here now and ready to shout out my resolutions for the New Year, and for all to hear! Here's to throwing that 2011 calendar away…
…to wiping the slate clean and starting fresh! It fascinates me how the start of a new year can encourage so much change in people's lives. We all have the habit of sticking to the same-old routine. But once the new year rolls around, we write down goals, change our diet, and resolve to being better, healthier, and happier selves! Let's cheer to the new-year-new-you, and encourage each other to reach our goals and change our lifestyles for the better.
I've split out my resolutions for 2012 into two sections – blog and personal – and I'd like to share both with the world! This should solidify my resolutions, no excuses, and will encourage and motivate myself to reach and attain these goals.
Blog Goals for 2012
Planning – Get Organized!
When I say 'get organized', I don't mean organize my linen closet or my kitchen cabinets, I mean organize my time and prioritize my schedule. Organizing my time is not something I've yet to master, and I usually run out of time in the day before I can complete all the tasks on my list. I am notorious for thinking I have more time than I actually do, or thinking I can complete tasks faster than I actually can, which in turn means I over extend myself in one area leaving less time in another. I need to set limits for the amount of time I spend on one thing over another. I need a day planner to get me going on this…
Business – Launch an Etsy Account
I actually have an account setup, but I've yet to announce it to everyone. Until now I've been more focused on building my brand, but I think it's about time I work on some products to offer to the public. I'd like to list my jewelry, for example, or other projects and crafts which my readers would enjoy for themselves.
Photography – Master my Camera
Yep, I need to work on this guy. I love my camera, and I'm taking much better photos now then I was when I first got it, however I still have SO much to learn. I love getting photography and camera tips and tricks from The Pioneer Woman and Miss Mustard Seed. Both of these ladies are amazing photographers and are great at providing advice for beginners like myself.
Growth – Start a Link Party Series
I have a killer link party series in mind, and I can't wait to start hosting it! My blog is, however, very young and I need to develop my audience before it would actually benefit anyone. I've seen a few young bloggers host some link parties that crash and burn. Their audience wasn't yet fully developed, the engagement was lost, and as a reader I saw it as a major fail. I will prevent such humility and wait until the timing is right.
Personal Goals for 2012
Health – Do More Yoga!
Some people think I'm a fitness freak. The majority of the year I'm running about 20 miles/week, plus P90X workouts, and eating healthy foods. In my defense, I do what works for me. I run during my 'me-time', I workout to fit in my clothes, and I eat what tastes good to me and what I know will be good for my body. Exercise is part of my daily routine, and I've come to the point where I hardly think about it. I would, however, like to swap out a few miles for some yoga, to add some calm, quiet flexibility into my life. I fully believe this will add balance to my life.
Attitude – Appreciate More of What I Have, Less About Things I Want or Need
I have everything a girl can ask for – a loving partner, loyal pets, a great job, and a roof over my head. Sometimes I let the things I have and the people I care about most fall to the back-burner, and I end up focusing on what I don't have that others do. This is not a healthy place to be, and could lead to a messy and unhappy state of mind. I usually find if I take a step back and reset my point of view, my attitude realigns and I'm able to embrace and appreciate myself and the things I cherish most.
Financial – SAVE $
Who doesn't have this on their list of 2012 resolutions? Well, this is the year people, I am SAVING! I had a little set-back last week (an issue with my back that forced me into the hands of a doctor), but I'm working through it and with the help of a successful 2011, I am happy to say 2012 will be the year of saving. It takes a couple years after college before you can actually start saving, especially if you have student loans like me, but it definitely takes a few years griding through and advancing in your field before you can feel the rewards. Let's do it together, friends, let's save for our future!
Fitness – Run a 8:30 Minute/Mile Half-Marathon
Do you think I can do this? I don't! Ha! This will be more than tough, but it's a goal! I remember when my fastest pace was a 10:00 minute/mile. I've certainly come a long way over the past 5 years of running. I want to continue to challenge myself even if the goal seems impossible.
