I’m staring at my calendar right now…can someone tell me where the heck all the time went?! Christmas is less than 2 weeks away, and I’m not ready. Every year about this time, I begin worrying that Christmas is going to pass me by. This is also the time I realize I really need to step back and enjoy the moment.
I thrive in the anticipation of Christmas, it pulls out the super-crafter in me. I’m not lying when I say there are glue sticks between the couch cushions, glitter in the carpet and glitter in my dog’s hair. My pups know, its all for the sake of a creative and festive Christmas.
I know what you’re thinking, ‘why are you still making ornaments?’ I should be frantically shopping, or wrapping gifts, or at least be sharing with you the DIY gifts I’ve made. But not to fear, I just need to work through this bottleneck of posts to write!
Today I present to you…
Merry Christmas Paper Ornaments!
I love them! I love their simplicity, printed on an off-white card-stock, they match perfectly with any holiday color scheme. I’ve seen variations of these ornaments floating around on Pinterest, made with curly ribbon or strips of music sheet paper. I made the ‘Merry Christmas’ paper on Word, using 20 of my favorite free fonts I collected online, and repeated ‘Merry Christmas’ over and over, each separated by asterisk.
Here’s the How-To
Step 1 – Grab your glass ornaments, ‘Merry Christmas’ paper, paper cutter, and scissors
Step 2 – Trim off the margins on your Merry Christmas paper
Step 3 – Using your paper cutter, trim off the Merry Christmas strips

Step 4 – cut more strips! It takes about a sheet and a half of paper to fill one medium sized glass ornament
Step 5 – Curl each strip of paper with scissors, just like you’d do when curling ribbon on a present
Step 6 – Pull out the center of each curled piece of paper to make the curls long
Step 7 – Fill the glass ornaments with the long curled pieces of paper. I cut some of the curls in half for a more full ornament
Step 8 – (Optional) Change the color of the ornament topper.
I decided to change the color of the ornament topper from silver to bronze. Silver makes for a more glam look, and this ornament was calling for a more neutral hue. I used a bronze metallic spray paint I picked up from Home Depot, and applied 2 coats.
I love the personal touch I gave to these ornaments. I created the ‘Merry Christmas’ template out of my favorite fonts. You can easily do the same! And the best part is not everyone favors the same fonts!
Instead of ‘Merry Christmas” over and over, you can write “happy holidays” or “buon Natale” or whatever you please. You can write the names of each family member and give the ornament as a gift.

These are beautiful, you’ve made me want to run to the craft store right now and get all the supplies to make this! Thanks so much for sharing, Merry Christmas!
