  • A Day in Sonoma

Happy Monday readers! I have to say… the only redeeming quality about Monday is getting to share your weekend adventures with others.  The BF and I are usually quite busy during the weekends, between visiting family and hosting friends, and we've gotten pretty darn good at hosting our own personal fab tour of Sonoma's wine country.

After last Monday's 4th of July post, all week we were in deep cravings of cheese and wine.  We finally persuaded my BF's parents to come visit.  His parents live in Monterey and usually don't travel further than San Francisco.  It was a special treat for them to come and visit.  We began the day with lunch at Sonoma Cheese Factory. We ordered a couple sando's and tasted all the cheeses. Here are a few photos of our day in Sonoma:

How cute is that couple holding hands?

CHEESE, YUM! My fave is the Habanero Jack, I love it when my mouth is on fiya!

I was browsing the store while waiting for my sando and came across this cute wine-cork tray.  What an easy DIY project! If you can't see it in the pic, there's a piece of plexiglass atop the corks. Guaranteed, this will be one of my future DIY projects :)

Next we headed to Jacuzzi, our favorite Sonoma winery.  The winery itself is a tribute to the Jacuzzi family, who's legacy included countless inventions ranging from the Jacuzzi jets found in hot tubs to airplane propellers.  The grounds were built to resemble an Italian piazza, the stones, fountains, entry-ways and ancient vines were imported from Italy.  I'm so lucky. My younger brother works at Jacuzzi, and we get a deeeeep family discount.  Here are a few shots of the beauty that is Jacuzzi:

This is the most handsome ancient vine I've seen!

You'll only find Italian varietals at Jacuzzi.  In your best Italian accent, can you say, 'Montepulciano!'

My dream wedding will be celebrated in this barrel room.  Imagine a dark room ignited by lights shining up against the barrels, dance floor in the center surrounded by tables and flowers and guests… a girl can dream, right?

We topped-off the hot afternoon with some delicous Italian gelatto from my grandpa's store, Sonoma Market.  Please, if you're ever in Sonoma, stop by this store, it's absolutely amazing! Imagine Whole Foods with a small-town feel. It's actually so much better than Whole Foods, but that's the best reference I can provide.

Our Sonoma day was definitely a success. We treated my BF's 100% Italian parents to a wonderful tour of Sonoma, we made them feel special and they were able reconnect with the many Italian influences found in this cute town.

Have you ever been to Sonoma, or better yet, to Jacuzzi Winery? Please, do share!

    1. Clicked over from your link on Centsational Girls comments about the day trip to Sonoma. We just moved to CA a month ago and now I know another place to go check out one weekend, The Sonoma Market!

    2. Wonderful! I hope you’re enjoying living in CA, and definitely take the time to visit Sonoma if you haven’t done so already, it’s such a fun town. Sonoma Market, my grandparents built the store from the ground up, and it’s absolutely amazing. Their paninis are delish, they have over 500 cheeses from around the world, their gelato is very authentic, and they even make their own sausages and hot links which are awesome to grill any time of the year. Send me an email if you end up visiting Sonoma, I would love to hear about your experience! :)

    3. I am absolutely loving CA! With weather this beautiful how could I not! I grew up in the south and have only lived on the east coast until moving here and I had no idea weather this nice even existed so I pinch myself daily. LOL
I will be sure to visit the market with an empty stomach and ready to nibble on all that wonderful stuff. I’ll definitely let you know how it goes! :o)
