Hello friends! Despite the fact that it's a dreary and rainy day today here in NorCal, I'm so excited to write today's post. First, I get to share with you the obstacles I've faced in starting my blog, and second, I've decided to give everyone a sneak-peek of the projects I've been working on. Horray!
Here is a list of the 4 major obstacles that I've faced in starting a blog this last week:
- TIME – I don't have enough of it, and I want more. I'm an Accounting Manager at a bay area marketing company, and if you're at all familiar with the Bay Area, you're aware that commuting is a requirement. My commute isn't too horrible, it's about 45 minutes each direction, but imagine if I had that additional 90 minutes/day to work on a project. I would be able to post every day! I've worked a little each night on one project or another, depending on my limitations and I must say I've made significant progress and I can't wait to show you the results.
- MATERIALS – If you don't have them you need to get them, and they require money. In my case, I want to start various furniture and wood projects that require sanding and nailing and stapling and priming and painting and glazing, the list goes on and on! The good thing is the tools and materials will last me over multiple projects, the bad thing now is fronting the funds.
- MONEY – need I say more?
- PATIENCE – I always say that I am in "patience-training". Patience is difficult, especially if you're like me and want to do everything right-this-very-second. I want to work on all my projects at once! But of course I know that's not reasonable or feasible. [Insert cheesy-but-relevant-quote] "Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish." ~John Quincy Adams
So, what am I doing to overcome my obstacles? First, I've accepted my limitations. I do not have all the time in the world; I need to work to make money to afford hobbies and projects; and I need to be patient that developing this blog will take time. Second, I realize not every post needs to be about a completed project. I can post whatever I want, it's my blog! I have to admit I'm too organized to post the most random of things. I'll keep my posts along a certain theme, apart from the occasional pics of my doggies! I will introduce you soon, now on to the sneak-peek…
Exciting huh???! The first project began with these dining chair skeletons. I bought all 4 at a flea market in Berkeley for $30. They are super cute! My second project is this French style queen chair. I was incredibly envious of other revamp's of this chair that I've spotted over the internet. I was shocked when I walked into the thrift store and spotted this little darling sitting beside a rickety bookcase. I immediately placed claim on this baby. I felt like I was one of the seagulls in Finding Nemo, compulsively shouting "mine mine!". You'll be shocked for how little $ I paid!
I've got a lot coming your way. Stay tuned!
