New Rug Arrivals are in. Check out what's new!
  • my very first blog post

Whoohoo!!! I can't tell you how excited I am to start this blog.  I have been fantasizing about it for the last month.  Prior to that, if you told me I would be this gung-ho about blogging, I would have an ache in my side from laughing so hard.  I always thought, what is more silly than writing nonsense about nonsense and waving it out over the internet hoping people will listen? I've never wanted to speak to a crowd of people, or blab my opinions about news, or fashion, or politics, or techie stuff. I mean, I feel like I blab enough on Facebook, and it takes some security clearances to access those blabs, so if I happen to offend anyone, usually it's only my 58 friends, which doesn't leave a very large pool of people to hear my thoughts.  Blab to the wide open internet? No way. Way too scary.

What changed, you ask?  I imagine myself as Colin Firth in the movie The King's Speech shouting, "because, I have a voice!"

Before I really answer the question, let me share a bit about myself.  I absolutely love to revamp and recreate.  Whether it's recreating a posh pair of chandelier earrings I saw in a fashion mag, reupholstering a dingy outdated armchair in a sweet toile print, or even sprucing up an antique frame with shiny gold paint to wrap around a new piece of art.  I love it! I love using my hands and crafting something that costs less but is equally as beautiful as something you'd find in a high-end store.  It's so rewarding to put in the sweat and effort and make something your own that rivals the pros, like Pottery Barn or J.Crew.

One day while I was searching for a headboard tutorial, I stumbled on a couple DIY blogs that instantly blew me away.  I was so anti-blog before that I had my eyes closed to the whole DIY universe! I feel like the clouds have parted and the sun came out! I can do this too! Blogging isn't for crazies… it's for me! I can share my projects and engage with people that are just like me!

What I thought was silly before, I now believe to welcome endless possibilities.  I am definitely jumping in head first, and I am so excited to share my projects with you! Let the journey begin!
